Indian Railways offers the facility to change passengers name on e-ticket. This can be done by approaching a railway reservation office with a print out of the Electronic Reservation Slip and the original photo identity proof of one of the passengers.
When the original photo identity proof is shown, the TTE is so equipped with flexibility as provided by laws, he can consider the minor mistakes in spelling. This has background with the no facility for easy change of name either online or offline.
Once you have received confirmation from IRCTC, you can make the necessary changes to your ticket. This can be done through the IRCTC website or by visiting the customer care center in person. You will need to provide your ticket number and the confirmation email to make the changes.
Online Method: Visit the official railway website. Log in to your account. Access your booking details. Find the option to modify or change your seat. Follow the on-screen instructions to select a new seat. Pay any applicable charges. Receive confirmation of the seat change.
For change in name on a reserved ticket, customer can now approach the nearest Railway Reservation Office with Electronic Reservation Slip print out and photo identity proof mentioned in the Electronic Reservation Slip at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of train as per extant Railway rules also available
Boarding point change is allowed only once. Boarding station can be changed before 24 hours of the scheduled departure of train. Boarding point change is not allowed if ticket is seized. Boarding point change is not allowed for the PNRs with VIKALP option.
To do the same online, users need to login their IRCTC account using right credentials, get to the link change boarding point and passenger name request form, download it and once it is done, fill them correctly and upload the same from there only. In this way, the name could be changed online without any problem.
You can change the name on most flight tickets but the airline will normally charge you an administration fee to do so. Some airlines will allow you to change the name on your reservation because of a spelling mistake but wont allow you to transfer your flight to somebody else.
