Note: You cannot merge FamilySearch historical records directly from Family Tree Maker. You can either review a record and attach it to a person using the FamilySearch website, and then merge the data in Family Tree Maker, or use the Web Clipping tool.

How do I add a source to FTM?

To attach a source from the Person Tab: From the People workspace and under the Tree tab (the Family tab in some versions), select the person in your tree to whom you want to attach a source. On the right side of the screen, click the icon to add a New source.

How do you cite sources in Family Tree Maker?

Family Tree Maker has ways to speed up citing the same source multiple times, such as when you find several members of a family in the same household in a census. To cite a source for the first person, highlight the census fact, look under the Sources tab and, in the right panel, select New Add New Source Citation.
