Similar to a PDF, an XPS file is a fixed-layout document that cannot be edited, which means it does not lend itself to being opened in a document editor like Word.
Heres a small, but not exhaustive list of programs that can open OXPS documents: Microsoft XPS Viewer (Windows) Pagemark XpsViewer (Windows, Mac) Microsoft Word 2011, 2013 (Windows)
There is no way of editing XPS files. You have to keep the original DOCX / DOC format file, do your editing there and then save a new XPS file.
How to convert XPS to PDF. In the XPS view application, click File and select Print from the dropdown menu. Select Microsoft Print to PDF in the dialog box. Click Print. Select the desired location for your new PDF.
How to Edit an XPS File Right-click on the document. Select Properties. Click Change from the General tab. Choose a program that you want to open the document in. Click OK to open the program and make the changes. Click the File tab and then Save As. Enter a new filename in the File Name field.
