Unlike some people have speculated, the arrow was not an accident. He combined the fonts Univers 67 with Futura Bold and, I have a really lovely quote, all about how he did it. I started squeezing the letter spacing. I saw a white arrow start to appear between the E and the x. I thought, theres something there.
