um well uh thanks folks for having me today um im excited to be here with you um one of my main practice areas is non-compete trade secret litigation we have a practice group at fisher and phillips where we do these all over the country uh representing companies exclusively uh sometimes one of our clients hires someone uh who has a non-compete you know we of course provide advice and guidance on that and we also if you know the employee gets sued our clients will hire us to represent the employee a lot of the time and sometimes they get sued so were going to talk about all that today but first of all ill give this a little background you know noncompetes have been really uh a province of state law for you know as long as u.s has been around we really havent had federal laws that govern non-competes theres been some talk uh recently about the federal trade commission uh starting to regulate non-competes and uh now given sort of the way the politics are going in washington uh you kn
