When you own a Google Doc, you have total control over user permissions and can delete the document. However, if you need to pass these responsibilities on to someone else, you can transfer ownership of the document. To do this, open the Google Doc, click the share button, and select the person you want to transfer ownership to from the list of shared users. Alternatively, you can invite someone new by email. Once you have chosen the new owner, click the drop-down arrow next to their name and select "make owner." Confirm your choice and the new owner will immediately take over control of the document. Your permission will change to editor, and you will no longer be able to delete the document.
