They need to docHub them with a Canadian notary public for acceptance in Canada as notarizing by a U.S. notary public is not really a proper and legal way.
A notary public has all the powers of a commissioner for taking affidavits and, can verify that signatures, marks and copies of documents are true or genuine. Notaries are regulated under the Notaries Act . Every lawyer and paralegal in Ontario is also automatically a commissioner for taking affidavits.
Affidavits must be sworn or declared by the first party and can be signed by a Notary Public or a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits (also referred to as a Commissioner of Oaths).
Affidavits must be sworn or declared by the first party and can be signed by a Notary Public or a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits (also referred to as a Commissioner of Oaths).
Students-at-law, lawyers, solicitors, barristers can act as both commissioner of oaths and notary public but it is generally much cheaper to use a commissioner for oaths or a notary public.
Who can docHub my document? Any Canadian notary whose signature we recognize can docHub your document. If we are unable to recognize the signature of your notary, invite your notary to register with us. The notary can do this by providing a specimen signature.
To make a Certified True Copy of your document, you will need to bring the original and a photocopy to a Canadian Notary Public. The notary will compare the copy to the original and will docHub the copy by placing their signature and seal directly on the copy.
Affidavit authentication (a.k.a apostille or attestation) is performed by Global Affairs Canada to docHub the validity of the signature, the authority of the signature and identify the stamp or seal on the affidavit certificate.
