In the image below, the cycle code is 20220905. This indicates that the code is for the 5th day in the 9th week of the year in 2022. However, the 5th day doesnt mean Friday. The IRS starts its code week on a Friday, so the 05 actually corresponds with Thursday.
A cycle code is an eight-digit code found on your account transcripts. The cycle code indicates the day your account was posted to the IRS Master File. This date indicates the four digits of the current cycle year, two-digit IRS cycle week, and two-digit processing day of the week. Cycle November 14, 2022.
A transaction date is the effective date of a transaction on a tax account, and the cycle date represents the date the IRS processed the transaction.
Therefore, it will look something like 20220602. The first four digits indicates the tax processing year, so this would be 2022. The fifth and sixth digits are the week of the year, so in this example the 06 would mean it is the sixth calendar week of the year.
Deciphering the Cycle Code The first four digits represent the current tax processing year. The fifth and sixth digits represent the week of the tax processing year. The seventh and eighth digits represent the day of the week that your account was uploaded to the IRS Master File.
The Request date shows the date you requested your transcripts and the response date shows when they actually responded to send your transcripts via mail, fax, or view online (fax and online will always have the same date as the requested date).
The As Of date on a Tax Account Transcript is the date your penalties and interest are estimated to be calculated to determine if you have a balance due or a tax refund.
846 Refund Issued vs Processing Date You need to realize that the processing date on your transcript is not your refund payment date. That will be signified by code 846 (refund issued) where you will see your personalized date by when the IRS estimates your refund will be issued.
