Lightroom Classic catalog speed has been optimized for working with hundreds of thousands of images and using a single catalog is no longer a hindrance to smooth work. In fact, in most cases, it is advisable to opt for a single catalog to work.
Most of the time though it will be missing from the Lightroom catalogue because you have moved the file or folder to another location. The common cause is when you back-up files to an external hard drive or you rename a folder.
Restore a backup catalog Locate and unzip the backup file. Choose File Open Catalog. Navigate to the location of your backed up catalog file. Select the backed up . lrcat and . lrcat-data files and click Open. (Optional) Copy the backed up catalog to the location of the original catalog to replace it.
Method 1: Use keyboard shortcut Quit Lightroom Classic. macOS: Press and hold the Shift + Option keys. Windows: Press and hold the Shift + Alt keys. While holding down the keys, launch Lightroom Classic. The following dialog box appears: (Windows) Reset Lightroom Classic Preferences. Click Yes.
Press and hold the Alt (Win) / option (macOS) key while launching Lightroom Classic. In the Select Catalog dialog box, click Create a New Catalog and then try to import the corrupt catalog. Try to open backup catalogs. For more information, see Restore a backup catalog.
11 Solutions when Lightroom keeps Crashing Make Sure Youre Running the Latest Version of Lightroom. Optimize the Catalog. Turn off the GPU. Reset the Preferences. Try a New Catalog. Uninstall, Reboot, and Reinstall. Check for Operating System and Hardware Problems. Make Sure You Dont Have Any Corrupted Presets or Fonts.
Catalog views return information that is used by the SQL Server Database Engine. We recommend that you use catalog views because they are the most general interface to the catalog metadata and provide the most efficient way to obtain, transform, and present customized forms of this information.
Catalogs can also get corrupt if the connection to the drive, in which the catalog is located, is interrupted while Lightroom Classic is writing to the catalog, This can happen due to an external drive being accidentally disconnected, or the catalog being stored on a network drive.
