hello everybody this is tech Hut and this is another Windows basics tutorial and in this one what Im going to be doing is showing you how to use and why youd want to use zip files and windows were gonna go over how to create them how to compress them how to add files to them and Im gonna shout out a tool that adds more functionality to this so a zip file is essentially a way to compress your files down and make them easier to send now lets say I have here a group of files that I want to send together to somebody or I want to upload them to the Internet and make it easier to download all I would need to do is select all of the items that I want to be compressed into the zip folder right click on it and then youre gonna have the option to send it to a compressed zip folder so if I just clicked on that what would happen is it will begin the compressing process and it will create a folder on or in the same directory that you had those files in so here I can name this something like

Unzip your files On your Android device, open Files by Google . On the bottom, tap Browse . Navigate to the folder that contains a . zip file you want to unzip. Select the . zip file. A pop up appears showing the content of that file. Tap Extract. Youre shown a preview of the extracted files. Tap Done.
This happens because of the way Automation keeps track of the files it is processing. After the file is unzipped, Automation forgets about the original . zip and focuses only on the files the . zip contained.
Navigate to the folder location where the zip file was saved. Right-click on the zip file and choose Open with Select Windows Explorer. If Windows Explorer is not an option, select Choose default program and select Windows Explorer, then click OK.
If youre on a Windows machine, try right-clicking the downloaded file and selecting Extract if you dont see that option, I would suggest downloading a third-party extraction tool like 7zip. Once youve extracted(unzipped) the files you should then be able to load them into your text editor of choice.
You can tell using Developer Tools (F12). Go to the Network tab, select the file you want to examine and then look at the Headers tab on the right. If you are gzipped, then you will see that in the Content-Encoding.
How to Unblock a File Open the Downloads folder on your computer or wherever the location of the download file is located. Right-click the desired file. Select Properties from the pop-up menu. Go to the General tab and find Unblock under Security. Check the box and select Apply. Click OK to keep your changes.
You typically dont need to keep . zip files once theyve been extracted, so delete them to recover the storage space.
Decompressing gz files Open the terminal application. For remote systems use the ssh command for log in purposes. To decompress .gz files, use: gzip -d filename.gz. One can unzip and open gz file using: gunzip archive.gz. For .tar.gz/.tgz file try the tar command: Run the ls command to list the files.
