If youve ever been working in PowerPoint and gone to insert a picture and this has happened. This Design Ideas pane has popped up and you thought, Ah! Why does that thing keep popping up?! And you just want to work with your picture without this pane interrupting your workflow. Well, you are not alone. Some people find the Designer Pane very annoying. Well, if you are one of those few people who find this pane annoying, dont worry, you can turn that feature in PowerPoint off. To turn the Designer Pane off, simply go up to your file menu in PowerPoint all the way down to Options. From here, in the PowerPoint Options window, halfway down this General tab, youll see a section for PowerPoint Designer, and here is this check box Automatically show me Design Ideas. This is the section the controls PowerPoint Designer and by default it is checked. Clearing this check box will turn off those automatic suggestions from PowerPoint Designer. Turning Design Ideas off using PowerPoint Options Click General in the categories on the left. In the right pane, de-select Automatically show me design ideas and Automatically show me suggestions when I create a new presentation. Click OK.

Check your entire presentation Select Review Spelling. In the Spelling pane, select the correct spelling from the suggestions. Select Change to fix the error or Change All if it appears more than once in the document. Or you can select: Ignore: Ignores the error and removes the red squiggly line.
The red-brown ones are on the master/layout(s). Choose View | Slide Master and you should be able to grab/remove those guides.
On the PowerPoint menu, select Preferences. Under Authoring and Proofing Tools, select General. In the General dialog box, under PowerPoint Designer, clear the Automatically show me design ideas check box.
In the PowerPoint desktop app, click File, and then click Options. In the PowerPoint Options dialog box, make sure youre on the General tab and then find PowerPoint Designer. Click both checkboxes to enable the features ability to make suggestions.
To turn on the grammar check option: A dialog box will appear. Select Proofing, then check the box next to Check grammar with spelling and click OK. To run a spelling and grammar check, navigate to the Review tab and click the Spelling command. Any spelling and grammar errors will now have a red wavy line.
Right-click the selected words, or the text box itself, and choose Set Proofing Language. Select Dont check spelling or grammar.
