To properly complete the E-Verify process, employers must close every case they create, except for cases that result in Employment Authorized, which E-Verify will automatically close.
To close an account electronically: Log into E-Verify. From Clients, select View Existing Clients. Click Terminate for the appropriate client. Select a reason for termination. Click Termination.
E-Verify allows for a full three days from this recorded case creation date when computing if a case is created within three days of the hire date. Employers may attach a note on the Form I-9 indicating time zone discrepancy for cases that may appear late.
Do not compare the photo displayed by E-Verify to the actual employee. Employers should have directly compared the photo on the document to the employee during Form I-9 completion and prior to creating the E-Verify case. Photo Matching - Process Overview provides a summary.
Employers that receive verification of employment requests from state or federal government agencies are generally required to respond to them. They do not have to respond to requests from collection agencies and others, however.
For most documents presented, E-Verify requests an image of both the front and back. If you are entering a U.S. passport or passport card, E-Verify will request an image of the Passport ID page and the Passport Barcode page.
Can employees request that their case information be removed from E-Verify? E-Verify compares information from an employees Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to data found in U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Social Security Administration (SSA) databases. E-Verify cannot delete records.
Once the E-Verify case has been closed, no corrections can be made. E-Verify does not allow for corrections after this final step. Do not create a new case with the correct email address. If the case has not been submitted, you may edit case information before submitting the case.
