In the last class, we discussed how to use the discrete wavelet transform in images and planned to cover how DWT coefficients are encoded for generating a bit stream. Due to time constraints, we will continue discussing embedded zerotree wavelet encoding in this lecture. We introduced the parent-child relationship between coefficients in different subbands and noted that one coefficient in a coarser scale corresponds to four coefficients in the next finer level of scale, forming a tree structure.
