from time to time the asu ftm 300d will need a firmware update im the same as everybody else we dont like doing updates but they are unnecessary evil and they do the updates for a reason to check the version of firmware youre using go into the setup menus scroll down to number five which is software version and it will be displayed there to make life easy for myself i use the programming software to put in all my channels you dont have to do this but i would suggest strongly that you do back up your data as when you do the firmware update all the data that is inside the rig will be lost fortunately an sd card can be used to backup the data inside the rig or transport it from the computer when youre using the programming software so be warned make sure you do a backup onto the small sd card inside the head of the rig the firmware can be found on yaesus site theres a lot of information on there but if you scroll down to the bottom you will see amateur radio software in this secti
