If you want to change the formatting of the footnote text at the bottom of the page, select the Footnote Text Style. Click Modify, and then change the formatting options (font, size, and so on). For even more formatting options, click the Format button in the lower-left corner.
If you want a special symbol in the footnote mark, click on Symbol and select the one you want. Click on Insert. Your custom footnote mark appears in your document and the insertion point moves to the bottom of the page where the footnote will appear.
Insert a footnote Click to the right of the text that needs a footnote. Click REFERENCES Insert Footnote.
One-step footnotes Place your cursor in the text and right-click. Select Insert Footnote and type your footnote text. A reference number is placed in the text and your footnote appears at the bottom of the text frame.
If you later want to view the footnotes or endnotes window, you can display the References tab of the ribbon and click Show Notes in the Footnotes group. This displays the Footnotes or Endnotes window. You can then make changes to footnotes or endnotes in the window if you so desire.
