The minimum you need to change something to avoid copyright issues is 100%. If any of your content is copied without permission from somewhere that is subject to copyright then you have stolen that content.
Copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans, or short phrases. In some cases, these things may be protected as trademarks. Contact the U.S. Patent Trademark Office, TrademarkAssistanceCenter@uspto.gov or see Circular 33, for further information.
While typeface designs themselves are not protected, the computer software that enables the use of fonts is eligible for copyright protection. This includes the font files (e.g., TrueType or OpenType files) and any software code associated with font rendering and hinting.
In the United States, fonts are protected under copyright. However, typefaces are not. But they can be eligible for patent protection through a design patent.
Bold is commonly used for emphasis. Exactly how much heavier than the weight that precedes it (usually Regular, but possibly Medium), and exactly how much lighter than the weight that follows (usually Extra Bold or Black) is arbitrary, and down to the discretion of the type designer.
Theyre intended for emphasis and if everything (i.e.: a whole paragraph) is all caps/bold/italic, nothing is emphasized. Italicization is used for gentle emphasis, bold is used for heavier emphasis. All caps are another alternative means of emphasis. None of these should be used on more than a few words together.
Bold strongly stands out from regular text, and is often used to highlight keywords important to the texts content. For example, printed dictionaries often use boldface for their keywords, and the names of entries can conventionally be marked in bold.
