Hi, my name is Dave Andrews, and today Im going to show you how to make fonts bold. Lets open up Microsoft Word, by clicking on our start button. Lets go to all programs. Find Microsoft Office, and lets just open up Word. Im going to type a little bit of text here, that I want to make bold. Lets highlight the text and to make that bold which means it will stand out more than other text around it, just click on the B. As you can see its gotten a little bit thicker, and if I uncheck my B and type a little more text beneath it, you can see that this text that I have made bold stands out a little more than whats below it. A quick way to do this is to highlight some text, if you want to do this on your keyboard, hold down your control key and press the B. As you can see, some more is now bold. My name is Dave Andrews and Ive just showed you how to make text bold.

Bold strongly stands out from regular text, and is often used to highlight keywords important to the texts content. For example, printed dictionaries often use boldface for their keywords, and the names of entries can conventionally be marked in bold.
Put your name in bold and or larger font to let employers immediately know who you are. Include the date you are submitting the letter. Address the letter to the contact person/department/company from the job posting.
Bold is commonly used for emphasis. Exactly how much heavier than the weight that precedes it (usually Regular, but possibly Medium), and exactly how much lighter than the weight that follows (usually Extra Bold or Black) is arbitrary, and down to the discretion of the type designer.
Use bold for emphasis and quick reading. Hiring managers will be skimming the letter, so anything you can do to make your qualifications stand out will help focus their attention on you. Use a default font that is easy to read, such as Times New Roman, Arial, or Tahoma.
There are many different strategies for cover letters. Often the best one is to use headings (usually inline headings) which are bold, and address the key skills associated with the position. Other times, it makes sense to highlight keywords and skills that they are looking for by bolding them in the cover letter.
Bolding of select words and phrases helps with scanning, but you dont want to go overboard. So choose what to bold wisely, depending on the message you want to send. If your job titles effectively illustrate your path to management-level roles, bolding those might make the most sense.
Writing a Stand-Out Cover Letter Start fresh for each position youre applying to. Address your letter to a real person. Adopt a positive mindset. Grab attention with your opening line. Explain why youre the best candidate. Show them why you want THIS job. Finish strong. Sit on it.
