Pitman shift schedule Its commonly called the 2-3-2 pattern because employees will work two day shifts, have two days off, then work three more day shifts. The following week, employees begin with two days off, then work two day shifts before their final three days off.

The DuPont has been in use since the 1950s and its name is derived from the company that originated it. The schedule revolves around a maximum of four consecutive day or night shifts and a single day off between another three consecutive day or night shifts.
The 2-2-3 plan, also known as the Panama schedule, involves a rotational cycle of 28 days where each employee performs a daily 12-hour shift. This plan often involves four teams working for two days, taking two days off, and then working for three days. That is why it is called the 2-2-3 work schedule.
In the 4-3 schedule, each team works a three-week cycle that consists of: Four days ON (first shift) Three days OFF. Four days ON (second shift) Three days OFF.
It consists of a 20 day cycle where each team works four consecutive 10-hour first shifts, followed by 2 days off duty, works four consecutive 10-hour third shifts, followed by 3 days off duty, works four consecutive 10-hour second shifts, followed by 3 days off duty.
All shifts on a DuPont schedule are twelve-hour shifts, so employees average 42-hours throughout the four-week cycle on a rotating schedule. That may not sound so bad at first glance, but employees could work up to 72 hours in a given week.
In this schedule, your employees work a total of 4 twelve-hour shifts each weekthats 48 hours every week. Each week, youll pay everyone for 40 regular hours and 8 overtime hours. The 4 x 4 gives employees plenty of rest time in between their work days.
