this project had different phases and when I came into the group they already had some computer simulations going that said that we could actually detect the blood with this method so it was my job to actually develop the laboratory bench top prototype that we see here with the hot plate and validate all of the simulated results but we hope that in the future this a design similar to this would be able to be taken into the crime scene for a standoff detection of invisible bloodstains for perhaps you could scan a view of room and indicate where blood may or may not be present without using reagents and without actually touching the crime scene and then that would allow investigators to go to that area for further investigation to confirm or deny that it is blood
