Regular, Bold, and Italic are examples of font styles. With thicker letters, a bold font weight maintains the same style as a regular font. A left-to-right slanted version of your typefaces regular font is known as an italic font. An italic version of your typeface that is bold is thicker and slanted.
In general, a bold font is simply a heavier weight than the regular cut of the same typeface, that is, it appears darker on the page than the regular version. A black designation is usually given to a cut of the same typeface that is yet darker or heavier than the bold cut is.
Bold is commonly used for emphasis. Exactly how much heavier than the weight that precedes it (usually Regular, but possibly Medium), and exactly how much lighter than the weight that follows (usually Extra Bold or Black) is arbitrary, and down to the discretion of the type designer.
Due to this they are used for emphasis in the text, as well as in logos. Bold font styles are designed to draw attention to short phrases. They are not very easy to read, but you have no choice. Once you spend enough time looking at such font, your brain becomes familiar with it and adapts.
Bold text. Bold text, sometimes referred to as emphasized text, should only be used to convey information labels and should always be paired with a colon (:). Bold may also be used to label a topic within a table or chart without a colon as long as no other non-bold words follow the words which are in bold.
Strength and power: Bold, heavy fonts (e.g., Impact or Bebas Neue) can evoke a sense of strength, stability, and assertiveness. These typefaces are often used in headlines, logos, and promotional materials to create a powerful impact and command attention.
Fonts are designed to appear in writing for printing or display to enhance readability while emphasizing particular ideas or feelings. The font styles used can define mood, tone, feeling, suggestion and appeal plus provide character or uniqueness.
Seeing these traits in a font will activate your concept of beauty: Typefaces that are lighter in weight (in width and stroke thickness) are seen as delicate, gentle, and feminine, while heavier typefaces are strong, aggressive, and masculine. ( Brumberger, 2003, p. 208)
