In the last class, the focus was on using the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) in images, and the intention was to discuss how DWT coefficients are encoded into a bit stream. Due to time constraints, this topic will continue in this lecture, titled "Embedded Zerotree Wavelet Encoding." The previous lecture introduced the parent-child relationship among coefficients in various subbands. It was established that transitioning from a coarser resolution to a finer resolution results in one coefficient in the coarser scale corresponding to four coefficients in the finer scale, forming a tree structure where the root represents the coarser coefficient.
