Full Code Full code means that if a persons heart stopped beating and/or they stopped breathing, all resuscitation procedures will be provided to keep them alive.
A specific and common example of an advance directive is a do not resuscitate order (or DNR), which guides care only if your heart stops beating (cardiac arrest) or you are no longer breathing.
Advance directives generally fall into three categories: living will, power of attorney and health care proxy. LIVING WILL: This is a written document that specifies what types of medical treatment are desired.

We let them die naturally. This does not mean do not treat.
Advance directives consist of (1) a living will and (2) a medical (healthcare) power of attorney. A living will describes your wishes regarding medical care. With a medical power of attorney you can appoint a person to make healthcare decisions for you in case you are unable to speak for yourself.
When a patient is described as having coded, this generally refers to cardiac arrest. In such a case, urgent life-saving measures are indicated. This can happen within and outside of medical facilities.
This intervention is commonly referred to as intubation. It is important to note that patients who come into the hospital are automatically considered full code until they either provide verbal or written instructions to not have these interventions performed on them in the event of an emergency.
A code status comes in three types. Full code, DNR-CCA and DNR-CC. (Some institutions may have more options.) A full code means that medical personal would do everything possible to save your life in a medical emergency.
