Hello, everyone, and welcome back to my channel Sparkle English where I teach you how to improve your level of English. This is a new lesson in my English Writing Essentials series, where I teach you about English punctuation. In todayamp;#39;s lesson, Iamp;#39;m going to teach you about the joining comma. Make sure to subscribe to Sparkle English for more lessons on how to use punctuation correctly. Okay, so what is the joining comma? The joining comma is used to join two complete sentences into a single sentence. We place the joining comma before a coordinating conjunction. So here we have the coordinating conjunctions. And we can say FANBOYS to help us remember them: for, and, nor, but, or yet, and so. So letamp;#39;s look at some examples. I like drinking tea, but mom likes drinking coffee. Here you can see we have two complete sentences. I like drinking tea. Mom likes drinking coffee. Both of these are complete sentences. They are independent clauses

Bold text preceding colon When non-italic (roman) text that precedes a colon is bold, dont make the colon bold too.
Colon. The colon is used chiefly to introduce a list, quotation, or explanation following an independent clause (complete sentence). Use a colon at the end of a complete statement to introduce a list. Example: I have a few favorite classes at LLCC: literature, psychology, and art.
The MLA Style Center In its publications, the MLAs preference is not to italicize commas that appear after italicized elements.
Colons To announce, introduce, or direct attention to a list, a noun or noun phrase, a quotation, or an example/explanation. To join sentences. To express time, in titles, and as part of other writing conventions. Using a colon between a verb and its object or complement.
Dont overdo it, as it can distract the reader and make content less readable. And dont make punctuation bold, unless the whole sentence is.
Formatting Punctuation Punctuation marks in the middle of a sentence should take the style of the words around it. Ending punctuation should be formatted in the plain style (no bold, italics, or underlines).
Bold. When writing for the web or other digital media, you may use bold to emphasise parts of your text you wish to stand out. Do not do this in print collateral. Punctuation which follows bold text should not itself bebold (unless the whole sentence is in bold type).
