As you probably know, a small percentage of tenants will terminate their lease early, and when this happens, youll wanna know what your options are, so youre prepared. Dear [Landlord], This letter is my written notice of termination of my current lease agreement. This letter meets the [number of days] notice requirement per the lease. As stated in the lease, the end date of this lease agreement is [month, day, year].
Heres a list of common fields that should be covered in your lease agreement: Basic information about all tenants. Include the full name and contact information of each tenant. Description of rental property. Security deposit. Monthly rent amount. Utilities. Lease term. Policies. Late fees.
If the landlord refuses to let you assign the rental unit, or does not reply within seven days of your request to assign, you can end your tenancy early by giving your landlord a Tenants Notice to Terminate the Tenancy (Form N9). You must give the landlord this notice no more than 30 days after you made your request.
I wish to inform you that I will be terminating my lease on [date you plan to terminate]. This letter provides the necessary notice of [required notice] as outlined in the lease. I will move out my belongings and return my keys to [address of property management office] by [date you plan to terminate].
The Notice to Quit must include the name of the landlord, tenant, address of the rental property, reason for the notice, date by which to vacate, explanation for why, if applicable, information about the move-out procedure, and contact information for any questions.
I am the tenant at the above address and I am writing to give you [insert number of days/weeks notice required by your tenancy agreement] notice that I wish to end my tenancy. The last day of my tenancy will therefore be [Insert last day of tenancy]. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this.
Start the letter by addressing your landlord and include the rental propertys location and dates of occupancy. State in the opening paragraph that youre terminating the lease agreement. In the following paragraphs, provide the termination date and moving-out procedures. Be specific and keep it concise.
