hi this is Joseph Gilmore doing a framing inspection on a home today i like to try to point out what to look for during the construction process when it comes to framing our first thing that we really want to look at is making sure that we have California Corners these little pockets right here allow us to get an insulation all the way out to the front of the house and reduce the amount of frame thats actually available to conduct energy uh the second most important thing is look at the joints that are form where your sheathing come together and you really want to make sure you close those up or at least foam them shut where you see daylight last but not least lets ex examine the roof sheathing as the last energy requirement that can really improve this sheathing is a Radiant Barrier sheathing which greatly reduces heat gain into the IC space in the summer and again if we dont let it in we dont to worry about trying to get it out and it keeps the house nice and cool with the aid o

10 Golden Rules of Framing Start solid. Foundations are rarely perfect, so its on the framer to ensure the mudsills are an accurate template for everything that follows. Lay out walls alone. Waste nothing. Keep your feet on the ground. Avoid guesswork. Only measure when you need to. Efficiency is king. Work smart.
Signs of Bad Framing Gaps between the art and the frame. Gaps lets bugs and humidity into the art and will cause mold, damage, and deterioration. Lacks the proper backing paper. The paper has a purpose. No label. Loose hardware.
In evaluating wall framing, youll be looking for walls that are out of plumb, or not flat or straight. If you see protruding drywall in a tall wall, look to see if its at the same height as the floor joists. Upper or lower walls may be out of plumb, or the floor assembly may have components that are not flush.
During the frame walk, the construction manager will show you the electrical system, so make sure that all outlets, lighting and fan wires, and low-voltage wires are where you want them. HVAC ducts should be well connected with no visible dents and the plumbing should have all the options you requested.
