If you want to review and change automatic formatting options all at once, you can do that in the AutoCorrect dialog box. Click File Options. In the Excel Options box, click Proofing AutoCorrect Options. On the AutoFormat As You Type tab, check the boxes for the auto formatting you want to use.
Turn column and row field headers on or off This displays the PivotTable Tools tab on the ribbon. To switch between showing and hiding field headers, on the Analyze or Options tab, in the Show group, click Field Headers.
With the pivot active/selected, select Design - PivotTable Style Options and uncheck Row Headers. I have not quite figured it out yet, but all of the data in the affected columns happens to be, apparently, Row Headers. Unchecking Row Headers option removes the bold formatting for these headers.
Ctrl + B is the shortcut key used to remove bold formatting in MS Excel. It also used to bold a text. Ctrl+2 is also used to bold text or remove bold formatting.
While you cannot make text bold within a formula, you CAN make text u̲n̲d̲e̲r̲l̲i̲n̲e̲d̲. No VBA needed; the magic here is unicode special characters. After each character that you want underlined, insert the unicode combining low line character U+0332 .
