Title blocks Project name and address. Company name and address. Sheet title number. Scale, date, project number. Drafters name, checkers name. A place for a licensing stamp. A list of revisions. Key plan.
The title block gives the reader of the drawing critical information about the document, including the project name, author, date of issue, topic, its place within a drawing series, etc.
These items are easy to eliminate, but what about the others? In surveying the class, its common to have five or six items identified as most important, often including approved by, material, revision number, part number, and general tolerances.
A title block is a template for a sheet and generally includes a border for the page and information about the design firm, such as its name, address, and logo. The title block can also display information about the project, client, and individual sheets, including issue dates and revision information.
The title block of a drawing, usually located on the bottom or lower right hand corner, contains all the information necessary to identify the drawing and to verify its validity. A title block is divided into several areas.
Title blocks: These blocks contain additional information and are located in the bottom right-hand corner of a drawing. The title block includes the designers name, part number and description, material, finish, part weight, general tolerances, scale, and units.
Title block: comprised of the information boxes found on the bottom right-hand corner of a drawing, the title block indicates drawing details such as the title, author name, scale, and date a drawing was created.
The title block should show the name of the project and the drawing and sheet numbers as well as the drawing title (e.g., site plan). The drawing number is especially important, both for purposes of filing the blueprint and for locating the correct drawing when it is specified on another blueprint.
