The \boldmath declaration switches to a bold math italic font; this causes letters, numbers, and most symbols used in math mode to be set in a bold type. (In LaTeX2e everything in the formula is set in a bold font.) The \unboldmath declaration switches back to the normal math italic font.
You can use format shortcuts; Ctrl+B : bold. Ctrl+I : italics.
Math formulas are always typeset in a certain math version. And you can switch between math versions outside of math mode by using the command \mathversion , which changes the overall layout of the following formulas. LaTeX has two math versions by default: normal and bold.
How do I use bold, italics and typewriter fonts in LaTeX? {\em This text will be in italics} {\bf This text will be bold!} {\tt This will be in a typewriter font} \begin{em} All this text will be italicized \end{em} {\bffamily This is in bold {\em This is italic bold}}
Bold text. To make a text bold use \textbf command: Some of the \textbf{greatest} discoveries in science were made by accident. Open this LaTeX fragment in Overleaf.
If you want to emphasise text, you can use the \emph{} command, which will emphasise the text in between the curly brackets, usually by putting it in italics.
There are also the two commands \textbf{} and \textit{} for bold and italicised text in math mode respectively.
