amp;gt;amp;gt; RUBY: Sorry about all this. My name is Sam Ruby. IBM, Emerging Technology, Co-chair of W3C HTML working group and I work from the FeedValidator, and thatamp;#39;s--thatamp;#39;s a bit relevant to some of the topics Iamp;#39;m bringing up. I share a lot of Bradamp;#39;s perspectives and actually, youamp;#39;ll see--weamp;#39;ll actually share some tapes and music, and not music, and movies. All these slides will be up on the Web. You can see the link here but it will be up for everybody to get to, and thereamp;#39;ll be links. I also have a Weblog. The Weblog has a fair amount of SVG, every single one of my--okay. Every single one of my entries has got an SVG element. Iamp;#39;ve done that for now for like several years. Most of them are completely handcrafted. I was going to demo that, though I canamp;#39;t--for technical reasons that are preventing me from actually demoing the editing MBI, which is just as exciting as it sounds. XHTML is a family of current and future document types and modules that reproduce, subset, and extend HTML 4 [HTML4]. XHTML family document types are XML based, and ultimately are designed to work in conjunction with XML-based user agents.
XHTML documents consist of three sections, listed as follows: DOCTYPE. DOCTYPE is used to declare a DTD. Head. The Head segment is used to announce the title and other associated attributes. Body. The body is used to provide the content on web pages. It is composed of several tags.
XHTML Forms. Web forms, much like the analogous paper forms, allow the user to provide input. This input is typically sent to a server for processing. Forms can be used to submit data (e.g., placing an order for a product) or retrieve data (e.g., using a search engine).
XHTML has three main types of markup: elements, attributes, and values. Elements identify document structure and can contain text, other elements, or nothing at all. Attributes contain information pertaining to an element. In XHTML, attribute values must always be enclosed in quotation marks.
So, you should select your XHTML elements or attribute carefully. XHTML 1.0 Strict DTD. It is recommended to use when you want to use Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) strictly and avoiding to write most of the XHTML attributes. XHTML 1.0 Transitional DTD. XHTML 1.0 Frameset DTD.
In order to validate an XHTML document, a Document Type Declaration, or DOCTYPE, may be used. A DOCTYPE declares to the browser the Document Type Definition (DTD) to which the document conforms. A Document Type Declaration should be placed before the root element.
The latest versions of the HTML and XHTML specifications are known as HTML5 and XHTML5, respectively. These specifications are the basis for all modern web browsers, and define the standard for how HTML documents are structured and processed.
