Hi, Iamp;#39;m Maya Kaczorowski, a product manager here at tail scale. And Iamp;#39;m here with Maisem. Can you introduce yourself? Hi, Iamp;#39;m Maisem Ali. Iamp;#39;m an engineer here at Tailscale and Iamp;#39;ve been here about 10 months. It looks like weamp;#39;re here to talk about ACL tags today. Yeah, thatamp;#39;s right. So first off, what are access control lists, which people sometimes call Ackles or ACLs. ACLs in the context of Tailscale specify which of your devices can communicate with which of your other devices. So you can specify something like, amp;quot;Oh, Maisemamp;#39;s devices, can talk to Mayaamp;#39;s devices or Mayaamp;#39;s devices can only talk to Mayaamp;#39;s devices. So how do I restrict it so that I can only talk to my own devices? So you would go to the admin console in Tailscale and you would change the default allow policy to say that Mayaamp;#39;s devices can talks to Mayaamp;#39;s devices. We have docs on how to

To stop the traceroute process, enter Ctrl-C.
Network Access Control List Meaning. A network access control list (ACL) is made up of rules that either allow access to a computer environment or deny it. In a way, an ACL is like a guest list at an exclusive club. Only those on the list are allowed in the doors.
How to enable or disable traceroute. Click Enable to enable traceroute, or click Disable to disable traceroute. Traceroute is disabled by default.
The Traceroute may not respond after crossing the maximum number of hops if there are firewalls between the source and destination routers that prevent the probe packets from being sent. Furthermore, despite the hops IP address, the router will display * (asterisk) if no response is received.
An IP ACL (Access Control List) is a list of IP ranges that are either Allowed or Blocked. Along with one entry that defines a start IP address of * (wild) that defines the default behavior when an IP address does not match any other range in the list.
IP ACLs are useful for reducing network security risks, such as blocking denial of service attacks and defining applications and ports that can receive traffic. For example, to secure a web service, an ACL can be created to only allow web traffic and block all other traffic.
As with ping , traceroute can be blocked by not responding to the protocol/port being used. Traceroute displays the ICMP messages source address as the name of the hop and moves on to the next hop. When the source address finally matches the destination address, traceroute knows that it has docHubed the destination.
What is traceroute used for? Running traceroute is helpful for figuring out the routing hops data has to go through, as well as response delays as it travels across nodes, which are what send the data toward its destination. Traceroute also enables you to locate points of failure.
