The only file type the FD Go and Mobile app can open is FDX, the format used by Final Draft. It does not open FDR (Final Draft 7 / 6 / 5), RTF, DOC, TXT, HTML or PDF files. The Go and Mobile app cannot open text files created in Final Draft.
FDX and FDR files can be opened and edited with Final Draft in both Windows and Mac. The software isnt free to download, but there is a 30-day trial option you can get. Even though Final Draft 8 and newer save movie scripts in the FDX format, the newer software still supports the FDR format as well.
You can save your Final Draft file as an RTF file, then open it in the other program. Go to File Export; Under Save As Type dropdown on Windows or the Format dropdown on Mac, choose RTF or Rich Text Format.
You should be able to simply double-click on a script file icon and itll open in FD13, if thats the most recently installed version of FD on the computer. Theres no need to copy and paste any content from a script into a blank FD13 document. You can also open FD13, go to File Open and open older scripts that way.
Text Editors: If you want to simply look at content of an RDF file, you can use any basic text editor. These are programs like Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on macOS, or gedit on Linux. Just open RDF file with one of these, and you will see raw text inside.
