pstree is a Linux command that shows the running processes as a tree. It is used as a more visual alternative to the ps command. The root of the tree is either init or the process with the given pid. It can also be installed in other Unix systems.
The output of ps also tells you the process ID of the background process and the terminal from which it was run. In its basic form, ps lists the following: Process ID (PID) A unique number assigned by UNIX to the process.
The STAT column in the ps command output shows you the current status of the process. The two most common entries in the STAT column are S for sleeping and R for running. A sleeping process is one that isnt currently active. A running process is one that is currently executing on the CPU.
The output of a PID controller (u(t)) is calculated using the sum of the Proportional, Integral, and Derivative terms where KP, KI, and KD are constants that can be adjusted to fine-tune the performance of the controller.
The TIME column displays the amount of CPU time used by each process. The CMD column shows the executable command that was used to start each process.
This will give you a list of all processes that are currently running on your system. In this case ps stands for process status. The command will give you the name of the process alongside the process identification number (PID), the CPU time its taking as well as the terminal as standard.
ps. Output The output consists of four columns PID - This is the unique process ID TTY - This is the typeof terminal that the user is logged in to TIME - This is the time in minutes and seconds that the process has been running CMD - The command that launched the process.
The ps command, short for process status, is a command-line utility that provides information about currently running processes. Its a versatile command that can be used with different options for different outputs. The aux options modify the ps command to display all processes on a system.
