No matter how frequently you shower and change your pajamas, your beloved white sheets might still turn yellow. And thats normal! Your body fluids, sweat, skin oil, various creams and lotions you use - any of that can leave some yellow stains on your white sheets and you can hardly control it.
Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it onto the stain. You could even dampen the paste a bit and gently rub it onto the stain. Let the fabric dry completely then brush off the residue and wash the fabric in water. For some, unscented hairspray has proven to be effective in removing ink stains.
For the times when stains leak through your sheets, there are a few options for cleanup. You can use a damp cotton towel dipped in an enzyme detergent or with a DIY stain removal paste made by combining cold water, dish detergent, baking soda, and over-the-counter hydrogen peroxide, Miller says.
Most white sheets naturally start turning yellow or dingy over time due to the sweat and body oils that are released while you sleep.
Pour distilled vinegar directly onto the stain and then soak for an hour. Cold cycle wash and then line dry the sheets. Vinegar is not only a great stain remover, but it also removes odors. In fact, vinegar is a gentle, organic cleanser which makes it perfect for use on fine fabrics.
Apply isopropyl alcohol to the stain and blot with a clean napkin or cloth, ing to Good Housekeeping. You might want to place a paper towel under the fabric to prevent the alcohol from soaking through. You should see the stain start to dissolve almost immediately.
A baking soda paste (two parts baking soda to 1 part water) is also a good trick to help lift blood stains. Apply the poultice directly to the stain and leave it for up to 30 minutes. After youve removed the paste, carefully blot the area with a damp cloth or paper towel then wash as normal.
Machine wash your sheets using cold water and a mild laundry detergent. Then air dry your sheets. If the stain doesnt come out right away, repeat the process and consider using additional stain removers listed below. If you have a white sheets, bleach when diluted is a great option to remove dried blood.
Douse the stain with white vinegar, then apply a paste made of equal parts baking soda and vinegar. If this doesnt work, immerse the item overnight in a bucket of water containing a few tablespoons of detergent and vinegar. Rinse and wash the following morning.
