Cramps or other irregularities could be a cause of stress and may condition one to take shorter breaths.
Avoid heating breathing practices like bellows breath (Bhastrika), frontal lobe cleansing (Kapal Bhati), and right nostril breathing (Surya Bhedi Pranayama) as they induce heat in the body.
WHAT IS PERIOD BLOATING? Period bloating is one of several premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms that can occur 1-2 weeks before a womans period. It may be accompanied by stomach cramp, backaches and other symptoms. Women feel their abdomen is heavy and swollen just before and at the start of her period.
Here are some ways to reduce period bloating: follow a low-sodium diet, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. drink lots of water. skip caffeine and alcohol. limit processed foods. exercise regularly. take a diuretic. talk to your doctor about whether birth control pills may help.
If you suffer from hypertension, then go slow and soft with the asana. Kapalbhati should be learned from a certified yoga instructor, and preferably, after a health check-up. Pregnant women should avoid this breathing technique. Those with a slipped disc or a stent should refrain from practicing Kapal Bhati pranayama.
