From the Utilities menu in the menu bar, choose Terminal. In the Terminal window, type resetpassword , then press Return to open the Reset Password assistant. If asked to select an admin user you know the password for, click Forgot all passwords?.
Heres what youll need to do: On your Macs login screen, click on your username and then hit the Forgot Password? option. Enter your Apple ID email address and password. Follow the instructions and theyll show you how to make a new password.
Reset it using your recovery key After entering your password up to three times, if you see the option to reset using your recovery key, click it. Enter your FileVault recovery key. Enter your new password information, then click Reset Password.

View saved passwords on Mac Open Finder and go to Applications Utilities. Click on Keychain Access. In the search bar in the top right-hand corner, type Passwords. Search through the list of passwords, and when you find the one youre looking for, double-click on it. Select Show Password.
