The difference here is, that \clearpage definitely starts a new page and breaks any current floating environment, whereas \newpage for example only starts a new column in a multi-column environment.
You can reference the page on which an object appears using \pageref{} , e.g. We can define page references easily in LaTeX, see the reference on page \pageref{refsection}. When you run LaTeX on a document with cross-references, it often doesnt know which section the references actually refer to.
The \pagebreak command tells LaTeX to break the current page at the point of the command. With the optional argument, number , you can convert the \pagebreak command from a demand to a request. The number must be a number from 0 to 4. The higher the number, the more insistent the request is.
The \clearpage command ends the current page and causes all figures and tables that have so far appeared in the input to be printed.
afterpage Execute command after the next page break Now you can issue \afterpage{\clearpage} and the current page will be filled up with text as usual, but then the \clearpage command will flush out all the floats before the next text page begins.
Use \newpage Command Simplest and most commonly used method to create a page break in LaTeX is use \newpage command. This command forces LaTeX to end the current page and start a new one immediately. It is straightforward to use, you just need to insert this command at the desired location in your LaTeX document.
The \newpage command ends the current page.
