Use nonbreaking spaces after other reference marks (Ex. A, Fig. 23) , between the dots in Bluebook -compliant ellipses, and after copyright symbols (see trademark and copyright symbols).
If you want different spacing, LaTeX provides the following four commands for use in math mode: \; - a thick space. \: - a medium space. \, - a thin space.
LaTeX Error: Not in outer par mode. The error comes when you try to build something movable inside a box. Movable things, in this context, are floating environments ( figure and table , for example), and \marginpar s. LaTeX simply doesnt have the mechanisms for floating out of boxes.
The \\ command tells LaTeX to start a new line. It has an optional argument, extra-space , that specifies how much extra vertical space is to be inserted before the next line. This can be a negative amount.
Fixed vertical spacing is called with the command: \vspace{length} The command is followed by a length in curly braces. Extra space will be discarded to make the text exactly fit the text into the correct spaces.
LaTeX has its own rules for deciding the lengths of blank spaces. For instance, LaTeX will put an extra amount of space after a full stop if it considers that the full stop marks the end of a sentence.
LaTeX uses the ~ symbol as a non-breaking space. You usually use non-breaking spaces for punctuation marks in some languages, for units and currencies, for initials, etc.
Click where you want to insert the nonbreaking space, and press Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar.
