5 Ways to Save On Ink When You Print Photos from Your Home Reduce Color Saturation. Color saturation in photos refers to the intensity as well as purity of color as displayed in a picture. Print Photos in Grayscale. Reduce the Resolution. Reduce the Size. Print Only When Necessary. Final Words.
The reason your photos can look different when printed is all about the way colors are created with light and ink. And while converting colors and choosing high-quality printing can help make sure your printed photos look their best, some differences might still be there. But thats okay!
Try printing in grayscale Grayscale printing is a type of printing method that can hugely reduce the amount of colored ink used up by your printer. While it may seem like Black and White printing modes, the grayscale option is actually better when printing photos or other types of graphics with depth.
Tips to Prevent Printer Ink Bleeding Use Quality Paper. Select the Right Paper Type in Printer Settings. Use Pigment-Based Inks. Avoid Overfilling Ink Cartridges. Print at Slower Speeds. Store Paper Properly. Maintain Your Printer. Use Genuine Ink Cartridges.
Enlarge photos without losing quality If you wish to enlarge a photo to double its listed maximum print size, you will need to double the DPI to 600 and resave the image. If you want to blow up a photo to 4 times its maximum size, you will need to quadruple the DPI to 1200, and so on.
Another thing you can do to your image to improve its clarity when printed is to apply some Sharpening to the image. Prints need more sharpening than computer monitors, so apply just a little too much. When you apply Sharpen you have to zoom the photo to 100%.
If print quality and durability are a concern, it is best to use the brand-name inks. After printing, keep prints away from light or display behind glass, which decreases airflow, fading from gasses and some UV exposure problems. If cold storage is not possible, store prints in a dark, dry and cool place.
On the other hand, printing in the Grayscale mode is the primary solution to get the black and white document while the color cartridge is empty. In addition, you can also make it done by printing in the single-mode cartridge, by just taking the empty cartridge off.
