shading cells allows us to define one cell from another such as in a table so letamp;#39;s say that iamp;#39;d like to shade these three different cells so what i can do is under the home tab go over to the fill color hit the drop down and then choose the shade that iamp;#39;d like i want to be able to see the words underneath it so iamp;#39;ll just choose a light one here and weamp;#39;ll click on there and thereamp;#39;s our shade so now i can go ahead and type in other things and you can still see it and then if i want to type underneath it then you know that this is a header category another option if we undo that is to use the styles here at the top and what i can do is once again i can select my three different cells and i can hit the drop down and i can choose from several different options i can choose the good bad and neutral model i can choose the data model that we see here for calculation output things like that i can also choose basic themes so iamp;#39;m going to c

Select the File menu and click Options. Click the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the Editing options section and check the box next to Automatically Flash Fill. Excels automatic Flash Fill feature recognizes patterns and fills in data to save time.
Fill a column with a series of numbers Select the first cell in the range that you want to fill. Type the starting value for the series. Type a value in the next cell to establish a pattern. Select the cells that contain the starting values. Drag the fill handle across the range that you want to fill.
To remove any background colors, patterns, or fill effects from cells, just select the cells. Then click Home arrow next to Fill Color, and then pick No Fill.
Try it! Select any cell within the range. Select Data Filter. Select the column header arrow . Select Text Filters or Number Filters, and then select a comparison, like Between. Enter the filter criteria and select OK.
The REGEXEXTRACT function extracts strings within the provided text that matches the pattern. The text or the reference to a cell containing the text you want to extract strings from. The regular expression (regex) that describes the pattern of text you want to extract.
The scheme is simple. Whenever you need to get a series of values in the adjacent cells, just click on the Excel fill handle to see a small black cross and drag it vertically or horizontally. As you release the mouse button, you will see the selected cells filled with the values depending on the pattern you specify.
If you establish a pattern by typing the full name in column C, Excels Flash Fill feature will fill in the rest for you based on the pattern you provide. Enter the full name in cell C2, and press ENTER. Go to Data Flash Fill, or press Ctrl+E. Excel will sense the pattern you provided in C2, and fill the cells below.
Select the range of cells that contain the first two values of your pattern. Click on the small square at the bottom of the selected area, this is the fill handle, and drag it down. Excel recognizes the pattern and applies it when it fills each new cell.
