Although the .EPUB format is open source, there is an optional layer that can contain DRM. This means you can make .EPUB files more secure than some electronic publishing files, to prevent them being copied, printed or shared.
The best way to protect an ebook from sharing, therefore, is to use a dedicated security solution. By converting your ebooks to the most popular document format, PDF, and using an ebook DRM solution like Locklizard, you ensure that it stays protected from even the most technical users.
Encrypted EPUB Click on Optimize (optional). Optimizing helps you decrease the size of your ebook by removing unused images and files. Type in an Encryption Password in the empty box. Click on Create and youre done.
Anybody can use this easy-to-use program: Open the program, Browse the ePub file, then Decrypt ePub, the ePub file have undrmed, as you can see, just three steps. The decrypted files are the same as source files, and you have no needs to backup the source files.
You can open and read .EPUB files on both Windows and Mac devices if you download docHub Digital Editions to your computer. Open docHub Digital Editions on your machine. Select File, then Add to Library. Find the saved .EPUB file on your device. Double-click the .EPUB file you want to read.
After the file is uploaded, click on the Security tab on the left side of the editor. In the Security tab, you will see an option to Remove Password. Click on it. A confirmation dialog box will appear.
Make sure to choose a password that is not easily guessable and includes a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. Confirm the password by re-entering it in the Confirm Password field. Click on the Apply button to add the password to your EPUB file. Your EPUB file is now protected with a password.
Common formats like ePub and PDF often include DRM measures. But be careful, its also the case that many times DRM comes in proprietary formats that can only be accessed using specific software or devices. One way to test this is to attempt to copy or transfer your own eBook file to a different device or format.
