Cut out the text that needs to be redacted. Use scissors to cut out all the text you need to redact. Make sure you find every mention of the sensitive information in the paper document and cut it out. NOTE: You should then shred the paper clippings to ensure the cut-out information cannot be traced or found.
4 steps to remove PDF metadata. Open the PDF document. Click the top left Menu (Windows) or File (macOS) Document Properties. Edit or delete metadata properties - you can also check additional metadata fields in the Additional Metadata menu. Press OK and save the PDF.

Find and remove hidden content (Acrobat Pro) Open the PDF in Acrobat, and from the global bar do any of the following: Choose Edit Redact a PDF. Select All tools Redact a PDF. Select Sanitize document. In the Sanitize Document dialog, to remove hidden information, select Selectively remove.
To protect your information, learn how to redact in Preview. Open your PDF in Preview. Click the Markup icon on the top right. Click the Redact button on the top left. Read the reminder in the dialog box, save a copy of your PDF, and click OK. Select your text to have it automatically redacted.
