Remember: A webpage element has certain inalienable rights; having a unique ID is one of them. Prevent html element identity theft by ensuring that every element on your webpage that needs an ID has a unique one.
To remove the ID attribute from an element, call the removeAttribute() method on the element, passing the string id as an argument.
ID and NAME s must begin with a letter ([A-Za-z]) and may be followed by any number of letters, digits ([0-9]), hyphens (-), underscores (), colons (:), and periods (.). And even though the SGML declaration of HTML 4 uses the value 65536 for NAMELEN, it notes Avoid fixed limits.
The getElementById() method returns an element with a specified value. The getElementById() method returns null if the element does not exist. The getElementById() method is one of the most common methods in the HTML DOM. It is used almost every time you want to read or edit an HTML element.
If you reference the parent elements inner html and assign it to a js variable you can use a . replace() method to remove the white space and reassign it to the parent.

Technically, the value for an id attribute may contain any character, except whitespace characters. However, to avoid inadvertent errors, only ASCII letters, digits, , and - should be used, and the value for an id attribute should start with a letter.
