By default, the zip command uses a compression value of 6 taken from a range of 0-9 with 0 being uncompressed and 9 being the maximum allowable level of compression.
The -FF option may create an inconsistent archive. Depending on what is damaged, you can then use the -F option to fix that archive. A split archive with missing split files can be fixed using -F if you have the last split of the archive (the . zip file).
Some of the common options and flags that you can use with zip are: - -r: Recursively compress all files and subdirectories in a given directory. - -q: Quiet mode, suppress output messages. - -m: Move files to the archive after compression, deleting the original files.
The -j option in the Linux zip command stores files with the given names only. The j option doesnt store directory information.
By default, the zip command doesnt archive a directory recursively. By using the flag -r, zip will traverse subdirectories recursively and archive their files. Running the command with option -r ensures the files within the directory are included as well.
Options in Unzip Command in Linux OptionUsage -d Used to define destination directory to unzip to -l To list the contents of the zip file we are unzipping -o Used to override the already existing files on the system -x Used to exclude files while unzipping2 more rows Apr 12, 2024
If you do not want to display the standard output of the zip command, use the -q (quiet) option with the zip command. Similar to the zip command, you can also hide the output archive of the unzip command using the -q option.
First, the zip command accepts a list of optional flags. These flags serve as different options to run the command. Then, the argument zipfile specifies the filename of an archive. Next, the files arguments specify a list of filenames. Finally, the optional flags -xi define exclusion and inclusion filters.
