The exclamation mark (!), known informally as a bang or a shriek, is used at the end of a sentence or a short phrase which expresses very strong feeling. Here are some examples: What a lovely view you have here! Thats fantastic!
Exclamation. A sentence ending with an exclamation mark (!) or said with a tone of shock/excitement is used to express high emotion e.g. sudden revelations, important discoveries or enthusiasm. This is often used to better express the tone of dialogue or show emotional outbursts.
We use exclamations to express surprise or shock or a strong emotion about something. The type of phrase or clause associated with exclamations is called exclamative. We usually form exclamatives with what or how. In writing, we usually put an exclamation mark (!)
Periods go at the end of declarative sentences, question marks go at the end of interrogative sentences, and exclamation points go at the end of exclamatory sentences. An exclamatory sentence is one that expresses a strong or forceful emotion, such as anger, surprise, or joy.
Creative writing It is not particularly pleasant and certainly does not help you appreciate the experience. One author suggests using one exclamation mark for every 25,000 words. That might be a little extreme, but the point is to use them sparingly. It is also highly advisable to use one exclamation mark at a time.
