Changing commas to decimals and vice versa by changing Excel Options Click the File tab in the Ribbon. Click Options. In the categories on the left, click Advanced. Uncheck Use system separators in the Editing area. In the Decimal separator box, enter the desired character such as a decimal or period (.).
1) Space, the internationally recommended thousands separator. 2) Period (or full stop), the thousands separator used in many non-English speaking countries. 3) Comma, the thousands separator used in most English-speaking countries.
This practice is used to better distinguish between prices and other values with decimals. An older convention uses dots to separate thousands (with commas for decimals) this older practice makes it easier to avoid word breaks with larger numbers.
A dot is a very small round mark, for example one that is used as the top part of the letter i, as a full stop, or as a decimal point. You can refer to something that you can see in the distance and that looks like a small round mark as a dot.
Comma: breaks sentences into sections that are easier to understand, and allows you to add extra information and to separate items in lists. Period: closes sentences, and marks a clear break between units of sense. Colon: separates a general item from something which expands or explains it.
The dot-comma the semicolon The semicolons first job is to show that two ideas, though separate, have a close relationship. Imagine youve just written two sentences. But theyre closely related ideas and it doesnt feel right to separate them.
The dot-comma the semicolon The semicolons first job is to show that two ideas, though separate, have a close relationship. Imagine youve just written two sentences. But theyre closely related ideas and it doesnt feel right to separate them. Swap the full stop for a semicolon.
To accommodate this case, press the Alt+Decimal Separator keys on the numeric keyboard. This key combination switches the decimal separator between outputting a period and the decimal separator as determined by the Region setting.
