Purpose: Certificates of Good Standing are issued to prove that a business is authorized to transact business in the State of Maryland and all fees, taxes, penalties owed to the State are paid.
An electronic certificate of good standing will be emailed to you within five business days. All certificates are valid for ninety days from issuance.
Maryland LLC Formation Filing Fee: $100 Expedited filings take around 6-10 days for the state to process after theyre received. If youre in a really big hurry, you can pay an extra $425 for rush filing.
An original or certified copy is required. You can order a certified copy of your articles and request an Apostille at the same time. We recommend mailing the order. Normal processing takes up to 2 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $5.
A Certificate of Status is a legal document thats issued by the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation verifying that a business is in good standing. This means that the entity is active, allowed to conduct business in the state, and in compliance with state laws.
A Maryland DBA costs $25 to register (processed within 4 weeks), and an additional $50 for expedited processing (within 10 business days).
You can order by mail, in person, or online, but we recommend online. Online processing is immediate and costs $40. Normal processing takes up to 7 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $20. Expedited service is available for $20 more and should take less than 3 days, plus additional time for mailing.
Forming an LLC in Maryland costs $100, but there are additional fees to consider. All Maryland LLCs must file an annual report and pay a $300 annual fee. If your LLC owns, leases or uses personal property in Maryland, you must also file a personal property tax return.
