The spatial resolutions are 27 km, 9 km, 3 km and 1 km for domains D01, D02, D03 and D04, respectively. The radio- metric station is located at the center of all domains.
The considered parameters are turbine swept area, air density, wind speed, and power coefficient as a function of pitch angle and blade tip speed.
Wind farm parameterizations (WFPs) are used in mesoscale models for predicting wind farm power production and its impact on wind resources while considering the variability of the regional wind climate. However, the performance of WFPs is influenced by various factors including atmospheric stability.
The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model contains parametrizations of physical processes such as cloud microphysics (MP), the land surface (LSM), longwave (LW) and shortwave (SW) radiation, planetary boundary layer (PBL), surface layer (SL), and deep convection, i.e., cumulus (CU).
The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model is a state of the art mesoscale numerical weather prediction system designed for both atmospheric research and operational forecasting applications.
The WRF with turbulence-resolving capability based on a large-eddy simulation (LES) approach is called WRF-LES. Through very fine (e.g., 50100 m) grids it can simulate flows in idealized, canonical atmospheric boundary layers as well as realistic, evolving boundary layers driven by large-scale flows.
Following this assessment, locations will be ranked based on the following criteria: Average wind speeds, with higher speed being preferable. Lowest population within 18.6 miles or 30 kilometers; the distance beyond which visual impacts from wind farms are deemed negligible.
