Dithering actually improves the audio quality of lower resolution audio by removing quantization distortion and replacing it with white noise. By applying noise, dithering turns the harsh, inharmonic distortion of quantization errors into a low-level, analog-like hiss.
Adding dither in audio prevents rounding errors, minimizing the distortion. Rounding accurately is easier said than done in the digital domain.
To apply a filter to your GIF, you first need to double click on it in order to add it to your timeline. Then, select it on the timeline and go to the Color tab of the Object Inspector menu to apply filters or use the color correction sliders.
Dithering is the most common means of reducing the color range of images down to the 256 (or fewer) colors seen in 8-bit GIF images. Dithering is the process of juxtaposing pixels of two colors to create the illusion that a third color is present.
GIF is a raster file format designed for relatively basic images that appear mainly on the internet. Each file can support up to 8 bits per pixel and can contain 256 indexed colors. GIF files also allow images or frames to be combined, creating basic animations.
When you save the file as GIF with dithering, it can make your GIF more natural. GIF file format has a 256-colors limit, so when you make a GIF file from a true-color image, it can be perceived that the quality gets lower because of color reduction. In order to minimize this problem, we provide the dithering option.
An Interlaced GIF is a particular type of GIF file designed to enhance the user experience while the GIF is being loaded. Unlike a standard non-interlaced GIF, which loads images from top to bottom, an interlaced GIF uses a progressive rendering technique.
A higher dithering percentage creates the appearance of more colors and more detail in an image, but can also increase the file size. For optimal compression, use the lowest percentage of dither that provides the color detail you require. Images with primarily solid colors may work well with no dither.
