The ATF requires that all Form 1 short barreled rifles, shotguns or suppressors be engraved with the manufacturers name (you or legal entity), city and state. Your Name / legal entity name and locale can be engraved any where it is visible and can be as small as 1/16 in height.
To fully comply with the NFA regulations, the trust information should be engraved on the firearm in a visible location.
ATF Compliant Firearm Marking for SBR, SBS, Silencers, and Any Other Weapons (AOW) *NFA Requirements: Engraving must be at least . 003 in depth and 1/16 tall, regardless of placement location. Text must be visible without disassembly.
Take a look at your wood to be sure that it is sanded and smooth. Make sure that you stain and clear coat your wood before engraving.
There are different types of engravings including the following; Etching. Etching is a type of engraving that is used on crystal, stone, and glass. Rotary Engraving. Rotary Engraving is used on certain metals including gold, sterling silver, copper, and aluminium. Laser Engraving.
When making an NFA firearm, e.g. SBR, Silencer, SBS, etc., you will need to have the applicant name, city and stated engraved on the firearm before the NFA firearm is made.

Later, bone and ivory carving became a striking part of the art of the European Stone Age. Additionally, petroglyphs chiseled into rock were part of many prehistoric cultures throughout the world.
When the NFA gun trust is the maker, the SBR must be marked conspicuously on the frame, receiver, or barrel with the name of the trust and the city and state (two-letter postal abbreviation acceptable) where the SBR is made.
