hello you know what today is reg wednesday and iamp;#39;m gonna tell you iamp;#39;ve had some great inputs from some subscribers this week into questions about some of the regs the one that i chose to go over tonight deals with logging versus acting pilot in command and here is the story we have a private pilot who just got their private pilot certification a few months ago they wanted to now go and get trained in a piper arrow which has retractable gear itamp;#39;s actually considered a complex aircraft not just because of the retractable gear because of the other things as well but nonetheless it requires that in order for the student for the private pilot to rent this aircraft from the school they had to go through some training with the cfi locally there at the school and then they must also receive a complex endorsement and all this flight time and the complex endorsement must have been sent to the insurance company for them to be qualified to rent the aircraft from the

Federal aviation regulations require pilots to have a high-performance airplane endorsement in order to act as pilot-in-command (PIC) of a high-performance airplane. Any airplane with an engine of more than200 horsepower is considered high-performance. An airplane with a 200-horsepower engine does not qualify.
Ratings indicate a pilots level of expertise, while endorsements allow pilots to fly in specific conditions or situations. These certifications are obtained through rigorous training and testing and are required by aviation authorities worldwide.
There are a total of 5 endorsements required for one to appear for the Certified Flight Instructor, Airplane Single Engine (initial issue) checkride: Fundamentals of instruction knowledge test. Flight instructor ground and flight proficiency / practical test. Endorsement for practical test prerequisites. Spin training.
The main difference between an endorsement and a certification is that a certification refers to getting a license to teach. An endorsement is a specific discipline, such as reading, math, science, or social studies, a teacher is qualified to teach.
Although these endorsements are required before a pilot may act as a PIC of a high-performance and/or complex airplane, they are not required to log PIC time if the pilot is rated for and is the sole manipulator of the controls of the aircraft.
To understand this, its important to know the difference between a certificate and a rating. This can be confusing- but to oversimplify it: A certificate is the pilots license, and a rating lets you do additional cool stuff with that license.
You might want to write an endorsement because you liked the book that youve just read and you want to recommend it to others. More and more we rely on reviews. While an endorsement is not a review, its a written statement of approval and support for a book from an influencer, its similar enough.
Logbook endorsements specify the category, class, make, and model of aircraft a sport pilot is authorized to fly as PIC.
